It was 1960 and Rock and Roll was just recently born...I was 20 yrs old and looking for a way to make a living for my new family.

I had been servicing juke boxes for my father in law that had a route of about 50 machines around the Baton Rouge area. These machine companies usually collect a vast amount of old used 45 rpm records that have been replaced with newer releases. 

He decided that it would be a good idea to open a store to sell both the used and new release records.

This what we did and opened Sammy's Record Shop on the corner of North Street and Acadian Thruway in North Baton Rouge. I was first a manager and then purchased the store from him, never changing the name.

The timing was right and 45 records were in great demand in all genre.

The inventory listed is results remaining from 40 years of collecting.
